Hilltop Orchards

Apple picking is the essence of the season. Fall in the Berkshires wouldn’t be complete without this welcoming, pet-friendly orchard offering artisanal craft ciders, homemade cider donuts, mountain views, and fresh apples waiting to be plucked directly from the tree. You’ll find this all and more at nearby Hilltop Orchards. Grab a seat on the tractor bed hay bales and venture out into the orchards this autumn.

Berkshire Botanical Garden

Think botanical gardens are simply a summer experience? The Berkshire Botanical Garden’s unique fall activities range from painting to planting to cooking, so you’re bound to find something that piques your interest. Join the watercolor workshop to channel your inner artist, or opt for a seasonal cooking class to learn how to sharpen your skills in the kitchen and remain sustainable in the process.

North Adams Fall Foliage Parade

In downtown North Adams you’ll find colorful floats, marching bands, and local vendors flooding the streets. Held annually on the first Sunday in October, this parade features live, local entertainment, an arts and crafts fair, childrens’ activities, and more with a backdrop of changing fall leaves.

Monument Mountain

From the 1,642-foot summit, you’ll be inspired by the beauty of the Housatonic River Valley—and you won’t be alone in this awe. It is rumored that authors Herman Melville and Nathaniel Hawthorne hiked this same trail together in 1850. You’ll be in good company as you admire the kaleidoscope of changing fall colors. As you hike, or at the peak, consider reading William Cullen Bryant’s lyrical poem by the same name for an eloquently expressed take on the area’s natural beauty.

Stay at the Briarcliff Motel

Breathe in the perfect autumn air and book your stay at the Briarcliff Motel. Vintage and retro, it’s just the place you’ll want to lay your head after a crisp day of festive activities.
