Well, we’re English – no hiding that as soon as you speak to us on the phone! We first came to the Berkshires in the mid-1990s and fell in love with the area, making frequent trips here and staying in many different inns and b&bs. After 25 years in London working in magazines and running our own marketing agency, we were ready for a change.

In spring 2010 we saw the Briarcliff for the first time, and a light bulb went on in our heads – why not combine the retro convenience of the motel experience with the service you get in an inn? Cue a lot of paperwork and will-we-ever-get-there moments. We opened for business April 15th 2011 and embarked on a major renovation of the place; we’re excited to be here and look forward to meeting lots of new people!
